巴莱特和勃朗宁之爱
　　
　　1846年9月12日，病卧床榻十几年的英国才情女诗人伊莉莎白·巴莱特和大牌诗人勃朗宁携手走到了一起，演绎了一页感人的爱情篇章。
　　
　　在她出生的年代，英国还鲜有女孩子上学读书。她的弟弟教会了她古希腊文，因为她渴望读《荷马史诗》。她生在一个富裕家庭，过着林中溪边嬉戏的明媚生活，她告诉母亲她喜欢写诗。然而，15岁那年，灾难突至。
　　
　　她骑马摔了下来，因为脊椎摔坏，她从此躺在了床上——“我仿佛站在人世的边缘，什么都完了。有一段时间看来，我从此无法再跨出房门一步。”紧接着，母亲去世；再后来，她至亲的弟弟溺水死在河里，那条河就在她靠着床头就能望见的窗外。
　　
　　生活对于伊莉莎白·巴莱特犹如没有阳光的黑夜。惟一能够照亮一个又一个黑夜的只有她笔下的诗句。
　　
　　父亲将家搬到了伦敦，妹妹将她的诗投寄给伦敦的报纸，越来越多的人关注到她的诗歌，她被赞誉为英国最有才情的女诗人。同时，巴莱特不曾想到，这些登在报纸上的诗将给她带来生命中最需要的阳光——爱情。
　　
　　“继续地爱，爱我深如海”
　　
　　诗人勃朗宁于1845年1月10日第一次给巴莱特写信，他将巴莱特的那些诗篇比做开放的花朵：“假使让这些花晒干，把透明的花瓣夹进书页，对每一朵花写下说明，然后合起书页，摆上书架，那么，这里就可以称之为‘花园’了。”巴莱特回信说：“心灵的共鸣是值得珍爱的……一位诗人的共鸣对于我更是达到同情的极致了。”从这一天以后，勃朗宁和巴莱特在整整四个月的时间里天天通信。每一天，巴莱特最盼望的就是在家家户户吃晚饭的时候，“悄然一人”听到邮差送信的脚步声。
　　
　　春天来了，勃朗宁第一次前去看望巴莱特。她靠在一个大大的沙发里，令勃朗宁以后再也没能忘怀的是她那双忧郁的黑眼睛。巴莱特的疾病没能让勃朗宁却步，在他们初次相见的第三天，他就写给她一封求爱信。她已经39岁了，又拖着有病的身体，于是她告诉他，以后再也别说这种“不知轻重”的话——“为了我，请忘了这件事吧。”女诗人认定自己的生命将像“青苔一样寂寞”，但是勃朗宁依然坚持每个星期去看望巴莱特一次，每一次陪同他一起去的还有鲜艳的玫瑰。后来，巴莱特将这些日子称为“一整个昏暗的星期中最明亮的一天”。
　　
　　巴莱特开始离开她蜷缩了多年的屋子，先是被人抱着下楼，接着可以在搀扶下自己下楼了。她告诉勃朗宁：“人人都大吃了一惊。”而勃朗宁鼓励她：“下次再试试，一定！你周围的一切都在这样恳求你！”第二年的春天，在遇见勃朗宁之前在病床上躺了14年的巴莱特可以自己走到大街上了，爱情所创造的生命奇迹终于使她可以回报勃朗宁的执着了：“如果到了天气暖和的时候，我的健康更好一些，那么到那时候，由你决定吧。”
　　
　　巴莱特不再对勃朗宁说“舍弃我，走吧”，她现在惟恐失去她的爱人——“继续地爱，爱我如深海。”
　　
　　1846年9月12日，巴莱特和勃朗宁结婚了。
　　
　　“没有哀怨的生命”
　　
　　1847年的4月，他们移居到温暖的佛罗伦萨。在这里，巴莱特将一摞诗稿献给了勃朗宁，它们始作于他向她求婚的那一天，止于他们结婚的那一天。勃朗宁看到一半时就知道“这是自莎士比亚以来最出色的十四行诗”。这些诗稿后来出版时，勃朗宁夫人为了隐其身份，将之命名为《葡萄牙人十四行诗集》——
　　
　　 正像是酒，总尝得出原来的葡萄，
　　 我的起居和梦寐里，都有你的身影。
　　 当我向上帝祈祷，为着我自己，
　　 他却听到了另一个名字，那是你的；
　　 又在我眼里，看见了两个人的眼泪。
　　
　　诗歌和爱情令勃朗宁夫妇过着“太幸福”的生活。勃朗宁说：“我们就像树洞里的两只猫头鹰那样快乐，‘巴’胖了，脸色红润了。”而勃朗宁夫人给妹妹写信说：“我叮嘱他，千万不要逢人就夸妻子跟他一起去过这儿去过那儿了，好像能用两条腿走路的妻子是天下最宝贵的。”
　　
　　他们一起度过了15年的时光，15年中从不曾有一天分离过，就像他们结婚前从不曾有一天中断过情书一样。
　　
　　1861年6月29日，勃朗宁夫人只是患了轻微的感冒，晚上，她依偎着她的爱人，“用最温存的话表达她对他的爱恋”，直到靠在他的胸前睡去，再也没有醒来。

　　十四行诗是源于意大利民间的一种抒情短诗，文艺复兴初期时盛行于整个欧洲，其结构十分严谨，分为上下两部分，上段为八行，下段为六行，每行十一个音节，韵脚排列：abba abba,cdc ded。莎士比亚的十四行诗的结构却更严谨，他将十四个诗行分为两部分，第一部分为三个四行，第二部分为两行，每行十个音节，韵脚为：abab,cdcd,efef,gg。这样的格式后来被称为“莎士比亚式”或“伊丽莎白式”。对诗人而言，诗的结构越严禁就越难抒情，而莎士比亚的十四行诗却毫不拘谨，自由奔放，正如他的剧作天马行空，其诗歌的语言也富于想象，充满感情。
